Rachel Hunnicutt Knight – Glad we got to know you

My last blog post here was to wish Rachel a happy birthday and to thank those assisting as we raised money for her upcoming bone marrow transplant. That was in August.

Since then much has transpired.

Today, at age 24, Rachel left this world for another. I’d like to personally thank everyone that took up her cause and provided her support in her last few months here. Thru blog posts, well wishes on the got-marrow.org website or her blog or on Facebook, you provided her with some strength as she fought her third round with leukemia.

At the same time she reciprocated with her upbeat attitude and her indomitable spirit, and provided many of us who aren’t facing such challenges with an example of spirit and determination in the face of adversity. We all have challenges, many that we don’t fight because we chose them but simply because they’re the hand we drew, and for my part I hope I face mine with similar grace.

The example she set will be a legacy. She touched many lives in her short stay. We don’t mourn her passing, Rachel’s in a better place now, untouched by disease or infirmity. Age will never touch her. What we mourn is her absence.

My condolences to her family. We will keep all of you in our prayers.

Regards ~ Rob
