We’ve had over a dozen “government shutdowns” in my lifetime
- In NONE of them (until now) did the president refuse to negotiate.
- In NONE of them (until now) were monuments barricaded to prevent visitation.
But President Stompyfoot is paying people to barricade access to the WW2 Memorial, supposedly due to the government shutdown.
This is an outside, open air memorial viewed from the sidewalk. It’s normally open 24/7. It costs extra money to block it off and man the barricades… but to make a point he’s paying people to do exactly that in a childish attempt to make the shutdown hurt.
Meanwhile, the barricade erected at the WW ONE memorial is a single panel. Why? No WW1 veterans trying to visit. He couldn’t cause any pain, so why bother?
At the same time, to create maximum irritation the president closed down:
- Scenic overlooks on the George Washington Parkway
- Claude Moore Colonial Farm (privately funded and staffed, but on Federal land)
- The BUS TURNAROUND LANE by G Washington’s Mt Vernon home
It’s not even moderately plausible that there is a reason that doesn’t include a petty vindictive little president playing politics. Seriously… the government is shutdown, so people can’t look at the Potomac River? What’s next? Do we close the Grand Canyon to viewers?

Picking a fight with 90+ year old men doesn’t make you look manly. It doesn’t make you look statesmanlike. It just reminds us you sent more men to harass honored US veterans than you did to aid a US Ambassador attacked by radical Islamic militants at Benghazi.
Shame you aren’t as proactive against our foes as you are our heroes. These vets spent their youth storming the beaches at Normandy, Iwo Jima and Tarawa, not smoking dope with “the Choom Gang” like you.
Show them the respect they EARNED.

You openly stated you will NOT negotiate, since after all, the American people elected YOU?
Really? How do you think our congressmen got into office, a lottery? Get off your high horse, quit harassing American heroes who went to war to defend freedom, and go negotiate with the elected representatives who are doing EXACTLY the job we elected them to do. The House is the ONLYÂ elected body in this fiasco that’s shown willingness to negotiate. You and Harry Reid have both openly declared you won’t.
Guess what… that makes this shutdown YOUR fault
Now grow the fuck up. Get to the negotiating table like a big boy. Stomping your petulant little foot at the American public won’t cut it. We aren’t impressed.
And before you go, go tell a WW2 veteran you deeply apologize for being an unpatriotic jackass.

Just pisses me off. There are men at that monument trying to pay respects for the last time to fallen comrades. Men who sat in freezing cold B-17s trying to fend off fighter planes before making a bomb run thru flak so thick you could get out and walk on it. Men who were imprisoned and marched to camps where they were beaten and starved.
They are the guys that saved the world from evil, and they’re being mistreated by a freakin community organizer to bolster a political agenda?
He owns this action, and he will account for it in this world or the next.

The narcissism this man exhibits is frightening. I’m pretty sure he carries a mirror in his golf bag just so he can look at himself and admire his reflection from time to time. Obama is a petty little man who could never exhibit the honor, dignity, or sacrifice of “the Greatest Generation”. His words and actions during this crisis of his own manufacturing has been nauseating. 2016 can’t come soon enough.

I’m more into seeing how 2014 goes. If we can take the Senate back there would be much less chance of this guy doing permanent damage. We might even get a budget passed for the first time since he took office.
