Gun Industry News: The Glock 42

Glock Introducing  Their First Single-stack 9mm

SEE VIDEO

This move by Glock apparently comes in response to demand from shooters who long to combine the limited ammo capacity of the .45acp with the reduced effectiveness of the 9mm cartridge.

Yeah, I know, it’s hard to believe Glock doesn’t hire me to write product intros.

Anti-gunners don’t understand stats they quote

Here’s an interesting example of the left pretending numbers support their argument:

OBSERVATION: A fellow could get rich in the hay-straw business if he got the concession to supply anti-gun blogs with the materials they use to construct argument.

Best bullshit quote from the blog:

As a prologue to the kids, [HI KIDS!]  I’d like point out that — no matter what mommy and daddy say –  over 10,000 kids are shot each year in the United States and having a gun in the home makes you less, not more safe. Make sure you go ask your gun-toting mommy or daddy why they hate you and why they had you in the first place …  besides ‘the condom broke.’

YES! We must take your guns. For the children! Darn those “gun nuts”!

A guy could get wealthy selling straw if he could get the concession to supply the left with material for their arguments.

Notice the pic shows about a 3 yr old white child holding a gun, and posits that “gun nuts” kids are lucky to live past 10.

But if you follow the trail of citation, the blog quotes a blog that quotes a blog quoting a study that states…

— 84% of the “children” were 15-19
— 9 out of 10 “victims” were male
— By a ratio of 10:1 the victims were black

So… the “children” in the study are by a massive disparity older teenage black males? Now let’s be honest here, does that sound like “Little Timmy found daddy’s gun” to you... or does it sound like inner city gang violence?

Sorry folks, but in the process of getting a degree in Finance I had to take more than a few courses in Statistics, and it appears your arguments are gloriously unhampered by an understanding of how stats work. As I don’t have time to tutor you, I’ll just point out the glaringly obvious flaw in your “reasoning” such as it is:

NEWSFLASH: Taking my gun won’t do a damned thing to fix gang violence in south Chicago, Philadelphia, LA, or DC’s Anacostia ghetto.

So next time… BEFORE you report raw numbers just so you can misrepresent them to take a big whack at your favorite strawman, take a little closer look at what the numbers actually say, not what you wish they said.

CONCLUSION:
Any jackass can write sloppy arguments that are not really supported by the numbers they pretend support them. As shown by the example cited… they usually do.

A Nation of Sheep (Hey… if the fleece fits….)

nation of sheepWe were once “subjects”. We cast off our king and became “citizens”. We no longer served the king… The government was designed to be elected by and answerable to us, not the other way around.

But as time passed, citizens became lazy. Collectively we slowly ceded our rights to those who supposedly serve us. Now they think we serve them… And we give them little reason to think otherwise.

Now “public servants” ignore the laws that limit their power. They dictate to you, they strip your rights as if there were no constitution that guarantees they cannot do so. And all the while a complicit media pretends it isn’t happening.

Collectively the US public has allowed people to piss on our boot and tell us it’s rain for so long that now failing to do so is now considered “extremist”.

Given that definition… Hell yes I am an “extremist”, and anyone that isn’t is just a sheep. Bottom line, if ignorance is bliss, most Americans should be ecstatic.

Ignorance of firearms proves fatal….

Excerpt from The Guardian:

theguardian.comThe expedition’s science leader [identified in the report as L2] emerged from another tent. He grabbed the rifle and fired four or five times. On each occasion a bullet was simply ejected on to the ground leaving the rifle empty. The bear then turned on L2 and mauled him about the head, causing him to drop the gun.

“The mountain leader of the expedition [identified in the report as L1] did not know where the spare bullets were and shouted for help in finding them. He diverted the bear from L2 by throwing a stone at it. The bear turned on L1 and mauled him badly.

“Other team members were attacked by the bear until L2 found one of the bullets that had been ejected, loaded the rifle and shot the animal dead.”

The report says the trip-wire system, a kind principally used by gamekeepers to protect bird pens, was “defective in terms of missing pieces of equipment”. It says paper clips had been used to try to make the mechanism work, but these were not sturdy enough or the right shape for the job. The group knew the system was unsatisfactory because a team member had tripped the wire a few days before when he went to the toilet in the night but it had not activated the alarm.

Regarding the rifle, the report concluded it was stored with the safety catch in a position that disabled the firing mechanism, leading to the emptying of the magazine.

—————————–

THE REAL LEAD: They tried to save him, but left safety ON while firing

They focused on a faulty tripwire, which of itself suggests the “leaders” were too stupid to be camped in the habitat of dangerous predators, but they buried the truly sad part. The kid died when leaders defended him by “firing” a Mauser 98 4-5 times… cycling the bolt and all… with the SAFETY ON. He just kept ejecting live rounds.

Seriously, you didn’t notice it wasn’t going “BANG BANG”?

The paper points out “the rifle was stored with the safety catch in a position that disabled the firing mechanism, leading to the emptying of the magazine”.

REALLY? The safety disables the firing mechanism? Who knew?

And do you normally store a loaded gun with a safety OFF where you live? Oh, that’s right, it’s gauche and primitive to know how to operate firearms where you live… you have evolved. Right?

This whole incident is sad. The bear was taken down with one shot once someone figured out how to operate the Mauser 98.

So basically you have people that are too smart to go to the beach without taking along sunscreen… going to the ARCTIC, where bears are the size of minivans, without taking anyone that knew how to set a trip alarm or handle a firearm.

CONCLUSION: The bears WILL eat those too ignorant to defend themselves

The entire incident is a microcosm of what happens to a society that “evolves” beyond owning AND knowing how to use tools of self-defense. When you are so weak you give over your own defense to others, just understand the bears WILL kill and eat you.

And for the record, the bears may or may not be furry kind, but you’ll be just as helpless.

Chicago Police Chief Doubles Down on Failed Gun Policy

Chicago just had what even by their standards was a bad week for shootings. It’s gotten so bad, parents in south Chicago were seen kissing their 5 yr olds goodbye and placing them atop trains bound for Guatemala.

So despite the fact that the city has the most stringent gun laws in the nation and a higher casualty rate than Iraq… The chief of police doubled down on failure and blamed the problem on lack of gun laws. Again.

See: Blame weak gun laws for holiday violence, Chicago’s top cop says

The chief of police in the city with the most stringent gun laws in America blames lax gun laws for the over-the-top violence in his city. Really.

The Case for Pistols at Dawn

My friend Allison posted the update below, which coincides with something I’d been considering.

I will never understand why it’s OK for others to make fun of my beliefs, my political opinions and my ideological heroes when I NEVER do that to them in return out of respect for diversity of thought and the sacredness of personal beliefs. Guess I don’t warrant the same respect. So noted.

I’m thinking one thing that would vastly improve society would be the revival of the now frowned-upon practice of the personal duel as a method of settling points of honor.

Duel

Before dismissing it out of hand, think about it. Some smarmy SOB runs out of supercilious arguments to support their latest specious claim and gets angry.

In keeping with current “progressive” policy, instead of conceding facts do not validate their kneejerk preconceptions, they immediately attempt to impugn your motives for rudely introducing “facts” that maliciously refuse to conform to their narrowly tailored world view… So they call you a racist.

Now if what you had said actually WAS racist, ie- predicated on a belief system the underlying assumptions of which involve false negative stereotypes that smear an entire race… Calling you a racist might be the obvious move.

That said, today if you disagree with ANYTHING a so-called progressive says… You are assumed to be racist by dint of the fact their president is bi-racial and a Democrat, therefore any view that is not supportive of his policies, vacation schedule, actions, inactions, or felonious conspiracies to obstruct justice are by definition “racism”.

The nightly dream of the TEA party... or so we're told by the same party that created the KKK and Jim Crow laws.
The nightly dream of the TEA party… or so we’re told by the same party that created the KKK and Jim Crow laws.

It matters not that nothing whatsoever in the conversation involved a racial component… Everything a person on the right says can be considered “dog whistle” racism.

For example, if you say “I disagree with the administration’s practice of selling massive amounts of weapons to Mexican drug lords”… This is, as any good Democrat can tell you, code for “Dear God why did we ever let the damn darkies off the plantations and why can’t we hang them like Jesus intended”.

Granted the “coded” message above has probably not actually been on the mind of anyone to whom it has been ascribed, or at least not in the years since it was essentially the basis of the DNC platform… But it is still the case that if you are anywhere to the right of Caesar Chavez, it’s assumed you pray that prayer each night before retiring to dream of cotton plantations lovingly tended by man-servants with glistening skin who sing in melodious chorus between whippings.

Now, given you probably never had that thought, much less prayed any KKK inspired prayers, you might take exception to being ascribed with such motives. But alas… Hitting a block button simply leaves the slur intact while eliminating the chance of a recurrence on your page.

Wouldn’t society be more polite if, instead, a person that calls you a racist without cause might have to face you the following morning at dawn across a field of honor bearing a single shot pistol at 10 paces and either retract the slander or die? Let’s face it. We all have at least 1 or 2 people in our lives whose overall demeanor would be vastly improved by a carefully aimed musket ball.

Hey… When I’m president we’re making duels legal again. And for the record, if you disagree, you’re just promoting racism. There you have it. I called you a racist. Which is better… Hiding my feed… or meeting me gun in hand at dawn?

C’mon. You KNOW you want to.

Blame easy access to killer firearms?

balme gunsBLAME GUNS?
Was discussing the latest mass shooting with some FB folks. Naturally one pointed the finger at increased access to “killer weapons”.

Works if you don’t know we’ve LONG had easy access to repeating arms. The 15 round lever action Henry rifle was developed for the civil war. The semi-auto pistol still used by USMC was developed in 1911, it’s available in any gun store.

Most my age had semi-autos in dad’s closet if not our own. NO MASS SHOOTINGS. [They weren’t painted black. Maybe THAT’s it?]

There are a LOT of differences in how kids were raised before mass shootings. Access to repeating arms isn’t one of them.

Let’s look at what HAS changed:

  • — movies we saw had less gore
  • — the kids weren’t prescribed drugs to modify their behavior
  • — there were no first person shooter video games
  • — the primary component of daily diet wasn’t junk food & sugar
  • — you ate what mom cooked, or didn’t eat.
  • — kids didn’t have schedules resembling a busy Realtor
  • — kids didn’t own more technology than the space shuttle
  • — they played outdoors
  • — social media meant riding bikes with friends
  • — parents actually interacted with them
  • — most families had 2 parents
  • — they went to church every Sunday
  • — faith was encouraged by teachers, not punished
  • — kids respected parents and teachers if they knew what was good for them.

And nobody got a trophy for participation, they understood in every game someone wins and someone doesn’t. They didn’t think it was “unfair” if they lost, they just tried harder.

The problem is societal, not hardware related. We need to figure out what and change whatever we’re doing to raise monsters, not change laws and post useless gun-free-zone signs.

If gun free zone signs worked… we’d post them in Afghanistan and the bad guys would just obey the sign, right?

Worth noting… I’ve yet to see press point out a shooter’s hobbies were 4H and calf roping. And trust me, those boys own and KNOW how to use a gun.

If Govt is arming for bear, how should we respond?

MRAPs are designed for "asynchronous warfare"... aka "an insurgency"
MRAPs are designed for “asynchronous warfare”… aka “an insurgency”

A FIRM GRASP OF THE OBVIOUS

Regardless of WHY the government is preparing for civil unrest, the indisputable point is that they’re doing it. It isn’t “conspiracy theorists” alone pointing out that DHS alone purchased 20 times the ammo the US Army expended the hottest year of the Iraq war.

Notwithstanding explanations that make “I read Playboy for the articles” sound credible, they’re scared of something, not stocking up for target practice. Their purchases are heavy on hollow points, frangibles and “sniper” ammo.

Coupled with the other military hardware being gobbled up by domestic agencies… body armor, night vision equipment, Barrett .50 rifles, MRAPs designed for asynchronous warfare… they are arming for a serious fight and they don’t expect it to be easy.

There are a couple of very good articles written by bank industry insiders in the past year that say the probable reason the government expects unrest is they are anticipating another and profoundly worse economic collapse.

Think about the day the EBT cards went down for a few hours recently, then imagine the reaction if ONLY that happened, but lasted longer. Riots would be the result.

Now expand that to the rest of the citizens in the event of a financial collapse. People in cities have no food source but the store. What happens when their VISA wont work? What happens if shelves go empty? How soon before people without food start to break windows to obtain it?

Once windows start breaking in a riot… does it typically trail off quickly, or escalate? Traditionally breaking windows are followed by fires, overturned cars, violence, generalized looting.

If the govt is preparing for an economic collapse appended by a crash of society that requires martial law to restore order… the wise thing to do would be for us to have a plan for the same and prepare accordingly.

That would include a plan to exit the city, a place to go, provisions in the event food/gas is not available… and arms to protect all the above. If things break down, ownership will quickly devolve into a simple matter of possession.

FINAL THOUGHT
Life isn’t fair. It won’t matter HOW well prepared you are if someone else can simply take it away.  In the probable case scenario of a societal collapse, even a brief one… Be prepared to deal with that reality.

You expected NEWS? Are you not entertained?

NOTHING UP MY SLEEVE
It is confirmed FACT the USDA seeks to buy .40 cal submachine guns and Type III Body Armor.

BARNUM AND BAILEY POSTERSurely newsmen asked hard questions?
Googled USDA submachine guns…. hit button for “News”.

RESULT? ZERO networks opined. Not even Fox. Only blogs.

Another innocuous Executive agency arms for war, and unless cows shoot back the body armor suggests the targets of the close quarters combat weapons are US citizens.

.

And the news says nothing. Zero. Nada. Zip.
But take heart. “News” yields 71 million+ returns on the term “Bieber”.

Thanks to network news… we’ll never lack for bread and circuses

USDA orders submachineguns?! Why?

Weapons of War Have NO Place on Our Streets ~ Barack Obama

Apparently the USDA doesn’t travel on our streets, cause the federal purchase website just posted a request for bids on .40 cal submachineguns with 30 rd mags, Tritium night-sights, scopes, selective fire, with trigger guards accessible while wearing gloves.

I’m sorry, but not to put too fine a point on it, but we’re talking about the Dept of Agriculture. The guys that inspect meat and eggs. Guys that are involved with crops.

So just who in the hell is this purportedly innocuous domestic agency going to war with?

See Federal Solicitation for submachineguns

I’ve said it before, but in case you missed it the first time… the federal government is arming for bear. The bad part is, it appears they also think US citizens are the bear.

It would behoove us to get the federal clowns under control before they hurt someone.
