Note to DC: What Part of “NO” Was Confusing?

Dear Congress

NO, we do NOT approve of this $700 BILLION dollar socialism package, even if you rename it. How many times do we have to say “no”?

This is not a function of government in a capitalist system… and the next numbnuts that says I ‘just don’t understand’ is gonna have a permanent imprint of a boot on their backside.

Trust me, I understand all too well. I have a firm awareness of how this occurred. I’ve watched with an open jaw as lending regulations went from silly to just surreal while a congress, bought and paid for by special interest lobbyists, fought sanity at every turn.

People used to go to prison for what some of the “approved programs” like Nehemiah allowed, only before it was called “up for down”. That’s just one of many examples… call me when you have some time, you can have the whole list. Funny how DC always thinks changing the name makes something bad into something else. Do you guys even understand how reality works?

You are the ones that don’t understand. These pork laden handouts have to stop. Did any of these companies offer to give their profit to taxpayers when things went well? [OK, I realize legislators are technically taxpayers, but I meant the general public… nice try though.] Tell the people that were in charge to execute whatever “plan B” they would’ve used if they lived in a country where the government really believed in capitalism.

Maybe they can get a loan from the fine folks on Capitol Hill that’ve taken money from Fannie/Freddie et al for resisting restrictions on same. If not, they might try the execs the troubled companies collectively handed billions in compensation packages, payments that hardly reflect the value of a pilot that drives his ship into the rocks at full speed, while personally bailing out and leaving his passengers to their own fate.

Our legislators just need to take a deep breath, sit down, and count to 700 billion. By the time they’re done the measure will have died for lack of votes. [This of course assumes they can count.]

In the past I’ve limited my efforts to local offices, but I will actively campaign and vote to remove from office anyone that passes this bill, regardless of party. Voting for this bill when the public is largely split between “no” and “Hell no” is nothing more than taxation without representation.

We’ve been there and done that before, and we tossed *them* outta Washington too.

Please share this with your counterparts. Help THEM understand a vote for ANY bailout (today, tomorrow, next week) will assure any incumbent they will never again see the capitol as anything but a tourist.

I appreciate your assistance.

PS: Since I know you won’t listen and of course you rightfully feel complicit in this fiasco for having ignored all previous loud and clear calls to action to regulate Fannie and Freddie over the last 8 years at least, the prime causes of this mess… please at least clean the pork out of the bill before you ignore the express wishes of the American public. BTW… you’re all getting voted out either way. Enjoy the private sector, good luck finding work.
